Information

Are you ambitious, enthusiastic and committed to supporting children with additional needs to reach their full potential? Are you ready for a new challenge and enjoy working in a dynamic environment rewarded daily by the small steps of success made by children with additional needs such as social, communication and interaction including children with ASD? If so, ‘The Orchard’ at Highfield Community Primary School would love to meet you.

‘The Orchard’ is a brand-new SEN Unit which opened in February. Pupil numbers in each class will be smaller than in a mainstream class to allow for a more specialist teaching approach. We initially opened one class and will be ready for the second class to start in September, hence needing to grow our staff team. The governors of our friendly, welcoming school seek to appoint an energetic, dynamic, forward thinking and enthusiastic class teacher who has the passion and commitment to move their career forward in a small, engaging, and nurturing environment for children with additional needs. We are looking for somebody who is highly motivated to engage reluctant learners, calm and resilient in a challenging environment and supportive in the development and growth of ‘The Orchard’s’ success. The successful candidate will be able to plan and deliver a personalised and differentiated curriculum, 1:1 and small group interventions and have strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills. You will be confident liaising with external agencies and successful in building strong, positive relationships with parents and carers. You will become part of a committed team, sharing the same vision for the unit, focusing on positivity, progression and perseverance driving ‘The Orchard’ forward.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'. Information provided by you or the Disclosure and Barring Service will be dealt with in a confidential manner in accordance with the DBS's Code of Practice. You may view the Code of Practice on the DBS website at www.gov.uk/dbs or alternatively a copy is available on request. Lancashire County Council has a Handling of DBS Certificate Information Policy this is available from the recruiting manager to applicants who are asked to complete a DBS application.
