Sir Tom Finney Community High school is a successful Generic Secondary Special School (11-19) in Preston judged as good by Ofsted (March 2023). Due to current members of staff, who are held in high regard, leaving STFCH one relocating across the Country and the other pursuing Business opportunities outside of Education; we are seeking to appoint 2 motivated, skilled and enthusiastic teachers to join our dedicated and experienced team to provide outstanding learning opportunities. Both posts are full time permanent contracts required with an immediate start (negotiated during interview process and at offer stage). New and Early Career Teachers as well as experienced colleagues are all welcome to apply
The successful candidates are required to have knowledge of child development, a good understanding of teaching methods as well as a strong interest in supporting students with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities from across the full continuum of learning and additional needs. All our students are working at developmental stages below their age-related expectations and as such we are looking for candidates who can teach students in a creative yet age-appropriate way whilst having the understanding that they are working at earlier stages of development. You are required to be flexible and adaptable enough to deliver across a range of subjects. You will be expected to co-ordinate a subject area across school (currently PE and DT with one of the 2 roles acting as EVC). As a pastoral and subject teacher, you will lead support staff to maximise students learning, adapt the curriculum and provide a structured and supportive learning environment. We deliver personalised learning opportunities that meet the pastoral and academic needs of our students ensuring that everyone is stretched and challenged at their own level. If you are hardworking with a positive attitude to life, love of learning, possess excellent communication skills and have a commitment to supporting the opportunities of which all our students are entitled we welcome your application. In return you will be part of a fantastic team working with remarkable young people in excellent facilities making a positive impact on the achievements and aspirations of our students and their families. STFCH are committed to supporting continuous professional development and through Lancashire County Council provides an Employee Assistant support service for all staff.
Rehabilitation The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'. You may view the Code of Practice on the DBS website at www.gov.uk/dbs or alternatively a copy is available on request.
