Information
Thank you for expressing an interest in the temporary Year 1 vacancy at St Stephen’s Church of England VA Primary School for January 2022. This is initially for two terms with a strong possibility of it becoming a permanent position. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and outstanding teacher to join our excellent team.

St Stephen’s is a one-form entry voluntary aided school comprising of seven classes and a nurture suite called ‘The Ark’. It is set in extensive well-maintained grounds overlooking the hills beyond Towneley Park in Burnley. We have plenty of opportunities for the children to learn outside, these include: an adventure playground, a large forest school, orienteering course, prayer gardens and a MUGA.

The successful applicant will be responsible for planning work and teaching a Year 1 class. Experience and knowledge of effective teaching of phonics and early reading is absolutely crucial for this role along with a wealth of ideas around provision and class organisation. Our school is a lovely place to work and has the Christian values at the heart of all we do. Our mission is to Learn, Grow and Achieve through God’s Love. Our children are a pleasure to teach and thoroughly enjoy coming to school. The whole of the St Stephen’s family has embraced our new curriculum and are enjoying the ‘launch’ days at the start of each half term.
