Bickerstaffe CE School & Nursery is a small, friendly, and nurturing primary school where every child is valued, challenged, and supported to achieve their very best. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated KS1 Class Teacher to cover a maternity leave from January 2026.
This role is to teach a mixed-age Year 1/2 class, working closely with our supportive staff team to provide high-quality learning experiences within a caring Christian ethos.

Essential Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
A degree-level qualification relevant to teaching.
Evidence of recent, relevant professional development (particularly in KS1 or early primary practice).
- Desirable Qualifications

Experience of teaching in a mixed-age KS1 class.
Experience of teaching in a small school setting.
Familiarity with systematic phonics teaching (RWI).
Experience of teaching in a Church of England school
- Essential Experience

Teaching in Key Stage 1 with evidence of positive impact on pupil progress and planning.
Experience of differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and more able.
Experience of classroom management and maintaining a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
Experience of using formative and summative assessment effectively.
- Desirable Experience

Training in safeguarding, first aid, or behaviour management beyond statutory requirements.
