Larches High School is a Secondary Alternative Provision school which provides full time education for up to 125 pupils who are not able to access mainstream provision.

We have an inclusive philosophy and believe passionately in ensuring that all pupils are given the opportunities, skills, knowledge and qualifications to ensure that they are able to return back into mainstream education or on to specialist provision, further education employment or training.

We recognise that our pupils are individuals and that “one size does not fit all”.  We also understand that many of our pupils have not had a positive experience of education and we believe it is our role to re-engage them with their learning, improve relationships and broaden their opportunities.

The personal relationships developed with our pupils ensure that each one achieves their potential both academically and personally.

The Governors of Larches High School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and dedicated individual to join the school as an unqualified teacher of Construction and Building Crafts teaching Open Awards - Exploring Construction & Building Crafts at KS4. The school is currently developing a Construction provision starting in September, including workshops and an allocated classroom for theory.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in inspiring and educating pupils mainly in the teaching of “Wet trades”. They will be expected to deliver high quality lessons which engage and challenge both our pupils and those from other mainstream schools. The successful candidate will have proven success in student outcomes and will be willing to contribute to their wider personal development. The successful candidate may also need to contribute to the teaching of 3D Design.

A Learning Support member of staff will be deployed solely to the Construction and Building Crafts area.

Essential Experience

Excellent classroom practitioner with an ability to engage and motivate all pupils who has the ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships with pupils.

Good track record of teaching and learning with a clear understanding and knowledge of Construction and Building Crafts

Desirable Experience

Experience of working with challenging pupils.

Interest in, and commitment to, the whole school as a community.

Knowledge of KS3 and KS4 DT curriculum and specification criteria.
