Information
The Governors of Deepdale Community Primary School are seeking to appoint an inspirational and dedicated permanent SENCO to join our highly skilled and experienced Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will;
  • have the drive and aspiration to be consistently outstanding. They will be able to work as part of an exciting, vibrant and forward-thinking team and will be committed to the concept of high expectations and achievement for all.
  • be an outstanding teacher with the energy and vision to inspire a love of learning in our SEND pupils and the motivation and commitment to ensure that they achieve positive outcomes. They will have the strategic overview of
  • the academic and pastoral outcomes of pupils with SEND and in partnership with the SLT will have a responsibility for ensuring that they have inclusive access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • take responsibility for the day-to-day implementation and operation of the SEND policy across the school and will work closely with staff, parents & carers and other agencies. They will manage, monitor, evaluate and review the quality of SEND provision across the school and put in place the right interventions so that pupils overcome their barriers to learning to ensure gaps are narrowed.
  • Apply for EHCPs, complete assessments and gather evidence of both needs and progress. They will provide professional guidance to staff in order to help best meet the needs of pupils with SEND, including offering relevant CPD.
  • be one of the school’s DSLs and the designated teacher for looked after children.
    ensure that the school is compliant with the SEN Code of Practice, OFSTED and the latest SEND local and national policies.
  • have a strategic overview of provision for pupils with SEND and contribute to school self-evaluation by monitoring and reviewing the quality of provision
  • support whole school planning in Leadership Meetings and contribute to both pastoral and curriculum development.
  • develop strong partnerships with parents, other schools, educational psychologists, Health & Social care professionals and other external agencies
  • be able to lead, motivate and inspire others to achieve excellence.
  • be able to work closely with teaching staff to ensure that pupils identified SEND needs are met and to co-ordinate the work of the SEND TAs to ensure high quality in class support
  • be able to demonstrate the highest professional standards, attributes and behaviours to the whole school community.
  • have the desire and motivation to build and strengthen links with parents, governors and the wider community;
  • have a very strong commitment to CPD and to promoting a dedicated professional learning community
  • have a positive attitude, be solution focussed and have a growth mind-set

  • Essential Qualifications
  • hold NASENCO award, or be willing to undertake and obtain the NPQ for SENCOs. 

  • Essential Experience
  • have an excellent understanding of the relevant SEND legislation that underpins SEND provision in schools.
  • be a strong, effective and experienced classroom practitioner with the ability to lead by example and to demonstrate innovative approaches to teaching, learning and curriculum development.
