Information
Are you ambitious, enthusiastic and committed to supporting children with additional needs to reach their full potential? Are you ready for a new challenge and enjoy working in a dynamic environment rewarded daily by the small steps of success made by children with additional needs such as social, communication and interaction including children with ASD? If so, ‘The Orchard’ at Highfield Community Primary School would love to meet you.

Website: https:www.highfieldcps.co.uk

‘The Orchard’ is an SEN Unit for pupils with SLCN/ASD which opened in February 2022 and comprises 2 classes. Pupil numbers in each class are much smaller than in a mainstream class to allow for a more specialist teaching approach. The role is in our Stage 2 class where children are ready for more formal learning.

The governors of our friendly, welcoming school seek to appoint an energetic, dynamic, forward thinking and enthusiastic class teacher who has the passion and commitment to move their career forward in a small, engaging, and nurturing environment for children with additional needs. We are looking for somebody who is highly motivated to engage reluctant learners, calm and resilient in a challenging environment and supportive in the development and growth of ‘The Orchard’s’ success. The successful candidate will be able to plan and deliver an adapted curriculum, 1:1 and small group interventions and have strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills. You will be confident liaising with external agencies and successful in building strong, positive relationships with parents and carers. You will become part of a committed team, sharing the same vision for the unit, focusing on positivity, progression and perseverance driving ‘The Orchard’ forward.

Position is temporary with a view to becoming permanent

Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.
