The Governors of Caton Primary School are looking to appoint a talented and inspiring Reception Class teacher to join our friendly and dedicated team.  Caton Primary School is a thriving and successful primary school in the beautiful Lune Valley. We have four classes with a Reception class of just 15 children so this is a wonderful opportunity for the successful candidate to make a real difference to our youngest pupils, enabling them to get off to a flying start. 

Our learning environment is beautiful with a fantastic outdoor space, including our own forest. 

We are looking for:

  • someone with a passion for Early Years and a good knowledge of continuous provision and learning through play

    Please note that although this appointment is for Reception Class in the first instance, candidates must be willing to teach / capable of teaching in other classes.

    Our interview process is in two parts:
  • On Tuesday,  30th April at 4pm, we will invite shortlisted candidates to meet the selection panel. This will involve giving a short presentation and answering a few questions. 
  • Successful candidates will then be invited for part two on Thursday, 2nd May. This will involve a teaching session, a short task and a formal interview.

  • Essential Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Degree
  • Evidence of recent and relevant training applicable to the post

  • Essential Experience
  • Evidence of strong teaching in a primary school setting.
  • Ability to demonstrate a proven track record of support for pupils with Special Educational Needs. 
  • Experience of deploying teaching assistants effectively.
  • Experience of successfully using a range of behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience of assessment, tracking and target setting.

  • Desirable Experience
  • Experience of successful subject leadership.
