Information
We are looking for a dynamic and talented practitioner with a passion and flair for technology to join a successful and vibrant area of our school. We want to receive applications from aspirational colleagues who possess excellent subject knowledge and have enthusiasm for the subject. If you have the skills and knowledge to create and foster an ambitious, innovative culture in technology, we want to hear from you!

At KS3, our pupils study a range of subject specialisms to prepare them for the different pathways we offer at KS4: GCSE, NCFE and BTEC qualifications. The faculty comprises five subject specialists, including a Subject Lead for Hospitality and Catering, and two technicians. Significant investment has taken place over the past decade and the faculty boasts some of the best equipment of schools across the region. We have a number of 3D printers, 2 laser cutters, 2 fully equipped workshops, a food technology room and a newly refurbished graphics / food demonstration room. There are also plans to invest in a further workshop in the near future.

We are an outward looking faculty which seeks to foster positive links within the local community and beyond. Faculty staff have a good relationship with the Child Computer Interaction department at UCLAN University with whom frequent collaboration takes place as part of our school's Enrichment programme. The Design Technology department has recently been awarded funding as part of the Royal Society's Partnership grant scheme to run a unique STEM based project with a local engineering company.

The department also received funding in 2021 affording pupils a range of opportunities including presenting at COP 26, taking part in the Royal Society Student Conference, and contributing to the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition. At the exhibition, pupils were invited to attend a fully funded 3-day trip to London where they met with Royal Society fellows, visited the Houses of Parliament and even found time to experience some of the other things that the capital has to offer!

Excellent outcomes and expanding numbers of pupils studying at KS4 make joining the team at this exciting time a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate. This role offers the successful applicant an opportunity to join a thriving area of the school and become part of a cohesive, forward-thinking and ambitious team.
