Summary
Weeton St Michael’s is a caring, inclusive and welcoming school where every child is supported to flourish. We are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant with experience to join our team. The successful candidate will provide support for two pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) as they begin their school journey with us.

The pupils are delightful, well-behaved children who enjoy learning through play, outdoor activities, and sensory experiences. They benefit from some additional support with communication, social interaction, and daily routines to help them make the most of school life.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning and build independence.
  • Use visual supports, structured routines, and play-based activities to encourage communication and participation.
  • Support pupils with social interaction and confidence-building in a positive and nurturing way.
  • Work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals to follow strategies from the pupils’ EHCPs.
  • Provide support with some self-help routines such as toileting, eating, and safety awareness.

  • Has previous experience of supporting children with SEND, particularly autism and communication needs.
  • Is patient, caring, and creative in finding ways to engage and motivate children.
  • Can adapt activities to suit developmental levels and individual learning styles.
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with staff and parents.
  • Is committed to our Christian ethos and values.
