Are you a dedicated, resilient, and passionate professional looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school, supporting students at Key Stage 4.

In this vital role, you will play a key part in supporting pupils with complex needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Your ability to build strong, positive relationships with young people, manage small groups independently, and use initiative to engage and motivate pupils is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support learning across the KS4 curriculum, adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Develop positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage personal and academic growth.
  • Manage challenging behaviour with confidence, using de-escalation strategies and maintaining high standards and expectations.
  • Identify behavioural triggers and implement effective support plans.
  • Work flexibly as part of a close-knit team and respond proactively to the dynamic needs of the classroom.
  • Deliver and manage small group sessions independently, under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Contribute to a positive, safe, and structured learning environment.

  • Essential Qualifications
  • Professional/academic level 3 qualification or equivalent or substantial experience

  • Essential Experience
  • Identify the needs and assess those pupils requiring extra support and support the development of individual action plans for targeted pupils
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Desirable Experience
  • Experience of working with a wide range of other professionals to develop and deliver shared initiatives for children, young people and families.
  • Work with parents / carers to help address poor performance/attendance/behaviour
