Summary

We are recruiting for an SEMH Teaching Assistant Level 3 to work in Agape (SEMH unit).  The position is temporary with potential for longer term contract. We are seeking a dedicated Special Education, Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) to join our passionate team and make a positive impact on the lives of our students. Some of these children have complex SEMH difficulties; therefore may display challenging behaviours.  

The successful candidate must be strong and resilient in order to be a good role model for the children at the school As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will: Support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in both classroom and one-on-one settings.

This position is term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful the salary received will be paid on a pro-rata basis.

Essential Qualifications

NVQ level 2 or above qualification (or equivalent) in exceptional circumstances, where local circumstances dictate, qualifications may be viewed as desirable

Desirable Qualifications

Level 2 or equivalent qualification in - English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy

A relevant qualification in education or special education.

REACT Training & the ability to de-escalate

Essential Experience

Willingness to engage in continuous professional development is essential.

Willingness to commit to the wider life of the school community is essential

Experience and expertise with children with SEMH

Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs in a school setting

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the well-being of children.

Desirable Experience

Knowledge, understanding and experience of nurture principles is desirable.

Knowledge, understanding and experience of restorative approaches to relationship management is desirable.
