Are you passionate about making a real impact in the lives of learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you have experience teaching literacy and numeracy? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you to consider this new role at Whitworth Community High School, which is a small, inclusive, successful and happy school situated in a semi-rural location between Lancashire and Rochdale.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking to appoint a talented and motivated teacher who can work with children with Special Educational Needs who are struggling to access the secondary National Curriculum, particularly in the core subjects of maths and English. The successful candidate will be particularly passionate about supporting the transition of students to ensure a successful start to their secondary education.
We are looking for a teacher who can build excellent relationships with students and families, and who has experience in developing students to ensure they secure the basics and can therefore bridge the achievement gap and grow in academic stature and confidence.
The successful candidate will deliver main elements of the national curriculum including English, Mathematics and possibly other foundation subjects to a small class/classes of students; provide group interventions; support teaching colleagues in their work with particular students, whilst also providing an ethos which promotes resilience and independence.
The main purpose of the role is to provide a supportive but challenging environment for students to enjoy their learning and catch up with key Literacy and Numeracy skills and concepts.
