Pendle Community High School and College are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and ambitious teacher to join our outstanding secondary special school and college for generic learning difficulties. We have a thriving school population and currently have 162 students on roll (ages11 -19). These students have a combination of moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties, including autistic spectrum disorders and other associated needs.
Pendle Community High School is situated in purpose-built accommodation, co-located with a mainstream secondary school, providing a wealth of opportunities for social and educational inclusion.
The successful candidate would be joining a highly committed and dynamic staff team making a real difference to the lives of young people with special educational needs.
If you are a qualified teacher with experience of working for children with a range of special educational needs (including moderate and severe learning difficulties) and managing and delivering a highly differentiated curriculum (from engagement steps, thematic approach and/ or the National Curriculum) this post may be an ideal opportunity for you. The role could include working in either Key Stage 3 or 4, but could also include Key Stage 5 where the emphasis is on Vocational Education, Life skills and the Preparing for Adulthood agenda.
The successful candidate could be asked to lead a subject department where appropriate.
