LTA/Reed Education are currently seeking a versatile and dedicated Primary Teacher who will also take on the role of Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCO) for a part-time position starting in a Preston based primary school September. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Year 6 for one day and Year 3 for two days per week and fulfilling SENDCO duties for the remaining two days.

Day-to-day of the role: As a Primary Teacher:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for Year 6 and Year 3 pupils.
  • Assess and record pupils’ progress, and prepare them for any necessary assessments.
  • Create a positive learning environment that promotes good behaviour and a strong work ethic.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and professionals regarding pupil progress.

    As a SENDCO:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy.
  • Coordinate provision for children with special educational needs.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure the effective delivery of SEN support.
  • Maintain accurate records on all SEN pupils and ensure resources are allocated effectively.


    Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in teaching both lower and upper primary.
  • Previous experience or a strong interest in special educational needs.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and the ability to work empathetically with children with a range of needs.
