The school sits in the village of Newton with Scales. The buildings and grounds are well maintained with excellent facilities. The school provides full wrap round education for 200 plus children and has very good church and community links. The senior team is experienced and offer strong leadership and support to the current Head Teacher. The staff team are professional and committed to the well- being and education of the children and the children respond positively by being fully engaged, well behaved, and enjoy learning. The governors are knowledgeable and offer timely and relevant assistance. Ofsted rated the school as GOOD in 2022 and our SIAM’s inspection in 2016 was OUTSTANDING.

We are seeking a deputy headteacher who:
  • Has current church involvement and beliefs that are necessary in the leadership of a Church school.
  • Has strategic thinking and planning that builds, communicates and carries forward a coherent and shared Christian vision for the school.
  • Will improve the school by applying strategies which develop the curriculum; evaluate and add value to teaching and learning; and provide effective budget management and financial analysis.
  • Has a working and current knowledge and understanding of all 3 key stages in the primary phase.
  • Will effectively analyse school data and identify appropriate actions, which then form part of the school improvement plan.
  • Will, through a passion for achieving the very best outcomes for all the children, working alongside the headteacher, demonstrate a clear vision for an innovative, progressive and forward thinking school.
  • Will establish effective working relationships with a wide and diverse range of people including pupils, parents, Governors, colleagues, the Church, other professionals and the wider community.
