Information

The main duty of the post holder is:

  • To support the Head of science, hold accountable, develop and lead physics within Key Stage 3 and 4 to ensure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and high standards of progress and achievement.
  • To contribute to a strategic view for the development of the subject, particularly though not exclusively in Key Stage 4 physics, within the context of the school’s and department’s aims and policies, in order to contribute positively to the implementation of the School Improvement Plan and to the delivery of high standards for all students.
  • To monitor and evaluate the performance of students studying physics, taking appropriate action to ensure improved performance and achievement of agreed targets for performance in Key Stage 4.
  • To secure and sustain effective teaching by subject staff in teaching physics resulting in improved teaching and higher standards for learners.
  • With the Head of Department, plan, monitor and evaluate creation, consistent implementation and improvement of subject schemes of learning which encapsulate key school policies and learning strategies.
  • To work with the Head of Department to track student progress and make intelligent use of data to identify underperformance, plan appropriate support and achieve excellent e the curriculum provision and enrichment for all year groups within the subject and engage all subject staff in outcomes for our students.
