Lancashire County Council is seeking to appoint a part time 0.6 FTE and full time 1.0FTE Specialist Teachers to join the Specialist Teaching Service Primary+ Team.

The Specialist Teaching Service sits within the Inclusion Service and is made up of specialist teaching teams including Early Years, QToD, QTVI, Sensory and Primary+ Team.

The Primary+ Team is a specialist peripatetic teaching service that supports schools and settings within Lancashire in meeting the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher with a SEND qualification and a further Level 7 qualification is desirable. You should be able to demonstrate your significant experience of working with young people with Specials Educational Needs and Disabilities. The candidate will need skills and confidence to work in partnership with schools, parents and other agencies to help young people learn and achieve. This role involves working in various settings across Lancashire predominantly with children KS1 - KS2 and KS3 - 4 and occasionally Post16.

We want a teacher who can: -

  • Deliver specialist advice and support to children and young people, their families, schools, and other providers across the county
  • Provide advice to the Local Authority to assist it in carrying out its statutory duties for children and young people with special educational needs and disability (SEND)
  • Complete assessments and information gathering relevant to CYP with SEND
  • Provide engaging and inspiring learning opportunities
  • Provide SEND support that connects with a young person
  • Model and develop strategies, routines and resources to support children and staff
  • Write intervention/ support plans for young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities
  • Work with agencies, parents and carers
  • Monitor progress and use data to show impact
  • Share professional advice in everyday practice
  • Advise and support on the ‘assess, plan, do, review’ model and identify appropriate next steps

    This position is county wide, based in Preston, with hybrid working and touchdown centres across Lancashire.
