We are delighted to offer the opportunity to join St Cecilia’s RC High School, a popular and growing school on the edge of the Ribble Valley at a very exciting time, where you will join an ambitious and driven Senior Leadership Team, led by commitment of the Headteacher to provide outstanding education and formation.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an experienced, passionate and suitably qualified leader who will drive our commitment to SEND provision, personal development, well-being and safeguarding of all our pupils.  They will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and leader with a drive to improve the life chances of young people through education in an environment that will support their leadership development.

The successful candidate will be joining a thriving and growing school which has been judged ‘good’ by Ofsted in October 2019 under the new inspection framework and in September 2021 welcomed 109 pupils for 97 places.  

The Governors and Headteacher are committed to your professional learning with a culture of research and reading and the heart of what we do, including staff well-being and workload. The successful candidate will be supported via a well-developed, bespoke professional learning package appropriate to their individual needs and aspirations.

Main responsibilities
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school’s Special Education Needs Policy
  • To work as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, providing advice and support to staff, liaising with the Local Authority and working with a range of other agencies
  • Liaising and supporting teachers and other professionals working with pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Providing weekly updates on pupil progress, overseeing interventions and regularly updating parents of these matters
  • Support teachers to develop their provision for pupils with SEND
  • The line management of Teaching Assistants, PSHE Lead and Curriculum Leaders within the school and supporting them in developing appropriate strategies and interventions
  • Strategically coordinate leaders of the effective implementation of the wider curriculum (inc. SMSC, PSHE and RSE provision)
  • Ensuring Heads of Year, subject leaders and all staff are clear about their accountabilities for the delivery of personal development and wellbeing

    In this role you would be be responsible to the Deputy Headteacher

  • Essential Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Degree or equivalent
  • Desirable Qualifications
  • SENDCO qualification (commitment in attaining the qualification within 3 years)
  • Essential Experience
  • Has successfully undertaken Designated Safeguarding Lead Training or has a commitment to do so, supported by the school, within the first year
  • To have demonstrate successful/effective leadership in a secondary school
  • To have implemented and developed a whole school initiative
  • Desirable Experience
  • Evidence of appropriate professional development for the role of Assistant Headteacher
  • To have substantial and recent experience as a Senior Leader in a secondary school
