The Governors of Larkholme Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our hardworking, caring team at this successful primary school. The post will initially be working within the Early Years and KS1 team in the morning.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist the class teacher in planning and preparing activities and materials that support early learning.
- Work closely with the class teacher to monitor the progress of children and provide feedback.
- Help to create a safe, nurturing environment that stimulates and encourages learning among the children, and model behaviour.
- Engage with children in both one-to-one and group settings, facilitating educational play and learning activities.
- Assist with the supervision of children during class, breaks.
- Contribute to the assessment and observation processes to track children’s development.
- Support children with special educational needs, under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO
- Be highly motivated, flexible, adaptable and able to use their own initiative
- Be committed to high standards for every child
- Be calm, tolerant and resilient
- Have good interpersonal skills
- Be able to demonstrate a nurturing, calming relationship with pupils
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Attachment and Trauma Informed Practice (ATIP) as a framework to underpin all the work we undertake with our pupils
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within an Early Years and KS1 setting.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with young children.
- A patient, caring, and creative approach to supporting children’s learning and development.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
