Summary
Would you like a new challenge in an outstanding Special School, working with a range of needs in a friendly and supportive environment, committed to developing staff? We are looking for a School Minibus Driver - you DO NOT need a D1 on your licence. Previous experience of working in a special needs setting is not essential as we are looking for an individual that is passionate about working with children and is willing to support our vision. We currently have 158 children on roll aged between 4 and 11 years. The position will be Monday-Friday and it will be a split shift. The working hours will be 6:45am - 9:15am and 2:45pm - 5:15pm, on a Wednesday, we finish at 1:30pm, therefore the hours will be 6:45am - 9:15am and 1:15pm-3:30pm.

This works out at 25 hours a week and term time only. As a school, we take our children on weekly trips, each driver is able to gain extra hours through putting their name forward for these trips each week.  You will join a team that is passionately committed to harnessing the educational potential of all our children whilst encouraging them to engage in daily life with increased confidence, self-esteem and independence. At Elm Tree we believe that good staff wellbeing is essential for cultivating a mentally healthy school, for retaining and motivating staff and for promoting pupil wellbeing and attainment.

We now have a staff mental health and wellbeing team who hold termly meetings to promote wellbeing across school. Examples of this includes, random acts of kindness days, Secret Santa, ‘thank you’ board in the staff room and bingo/quiz nights.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

As this is a term time only position, the successful candidate will paid for 44.09 weeks of the year. This equates to £14,848 - £16,078.

Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates.

Please note CVs are not accepted, to apply for this vacancy you need to complete the application form attached.

If you are interested in this role, please email your application form over to Jordan Calderbank, HR & Transport Manager - calderbankj@elmtree.lancs.sch.uk by 12 noon on Friday 24th October 2025.
