Summary
School Business Support Officer (Term Time Only)
33.75 hours per week – 8:30am to 4:15pm (with 1-hour lunch break)

This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro –rata basis.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic School Business Support Officer to join our warm and welcoming school community. This is a term-time only post, working 33.75 hours per week, from 8:30am to 4:15pm, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school office.

Working under the direction of the Headteacher and School Business Manager, you will be a vital part of our team – acting as the first point of contact for families, visitors, and professionals. With a key front-of-house role, you will use your excellent communication skills to build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing information and support with warmth, professionalism, and care.

Essential Qualifications
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Good general level of education suitable for administrative and finance work.
  • Willingness to undertake further training relevant to the role (e.g. safeguarding, IT systems, finance procedures).

  • Desirable Qualifications
  • Level 2 (or higher) qualification in Business Administration, Finance, or ICT.
  • Recognised qualification in ICT (e.g. ECDL or equivalent).
  • First aid training or willingness to complete first aid training.
  • Essential Experience
  • Experience in finance/admin roles (e.g. data entry, orders, budgets)
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office and spreadsheets/databases
  • Accurate record-keeping (manual and electronic)
  • Clear communication with parents, staff, and agencies
  • Able to prioritise, manage time, and work independently
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data sensitivity
  • Desirable Experience
  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Use of school MIS systems (e.g. SIMS, FMS)
  • Producing financial reports or reconciliations
  • Involvement in attendance, trips, or exams
  • Liaising with supply agencies or managing absences
  • Supporting pupil welfare and following up on absence
