Summary
Following the retirement of a much valued and long-serving member of staff, the governors wish to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant and Teaching Assistant (TA2A) to join our friendly team.  We will consider applications for the roles as individual posts, or as a dual role post.

The successful candidate will have a passion for education and for working with children of all abilities.  As an HLTA, they will cover classes in KS1 for teacher’s non-contact time.  The Teaching Assistant role will involve working in our Breakfast Club before school and then in our Y2 class (initially) during the mornings.  They must be able to work effectively as part of a team and have a good standard of English and Maths. 

Proposed Hours:

HLTA 8.25 hours over three afternoons.  Contracted hours include 10% planning and preparation time.
TA 2A 21.25 hours over five days (7.45am to 12pm)
Term time only + 2 x INSET days

Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant, the successful candidate will:

  • Support the teacher in the provision of high-quality teaching and learning
  • Under the guidance of the class teacher, implement structured learning activities and assist individuals or groups of children to complete tasks
  • Develop positive relationships with pupils to assist pupil progress and attainment
  • Assist in the monitoring / recording of pupil progress and developmental needs
  • Assist in the production of learning resources
  • Assist in pupil supervision and assist in the management of pupil behaviour


    As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, the successful candidate will:

  • Deliver learning activities to pupils within an agreed system of supervision, adjusting activities in accordance with pupil needs.
  • Select and prepare resources necessary to lead learning activities, taking account of pupils’ interests and language and cultural backgrounds.
  • Organise and manage a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment for learning.
  • Support the promotion of positive relationships with parents and outside agencies.
  • Work within school policies and procedures.
  • Attend staff training as appropriate.
  • Take care of their own and other people's health and safety.
  • Co-ordinate and supervise the work of Teaching Assistants
  • Ensure effective communication arrangements.
  • Co-ordinate the utilisation of volunteer helpers.
  • Be aware of the confidential nature of issues related to home/pupil/teacher/school.

    This position is term time only. Please note the salary quoted is full-time equivalent.

  • Essential Qualifications
    HLTA:
    Recognised and relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
    GCSE Grade 4 and above (or equivalent qualification) in English and Mathematics

    TA 2A:

    NVQ level 2 or above qualification –appropriate to the post (or equivalent)
    GCSE Grade 4 and above (or equivalent qualification) in English and Mathematics
    Desirable Qualifications
    Both posts: First Aid qualification
    HLTA:
    NVQ level 4 qualification or equivalent
