Would you like a new challenge in an outstanding Special School, working with a range of needs in a friendly and supportive environment, committed to developing staff? We are looking for a Teaching Assistant 2B interested in developing their career. Previous experience of working in a special needs setting is not essential as we are looking for an individual that is passionate about working with children and is willing to support our vision. We currently have 158 children on roll aged between 4 and 11 years.
The position will be Monday-Friday, 32.5 hours a week and term time only. Please see attached for a break down of the hours. You will join a team that is passionately committed to harnessing the educational potential of all our children whilst encouraging them to engage in daily life with increased confidence, self-esteem and independence. At Elm Tree we believe that good staff wellbeing is essential for cultivating a mentally healthy school, for retaining and motivating staff and for promoting pupil wellbeing and attainment. We now have a staff mental health and wellbeing team who hold termly meetings to promote wellbeing across school.
Examples of this includes, random acts of kindness days, Secret Santa, ‘thank you’ board in the staff room and bingo/quiz nights. Due to most of our children travelling to get to school, we run our own transport. We currently have 15 minibuses and numerous taxis that we use daily to get our children to and from school. On each of our vehicles, we have a member of staff supervising the children. Being on transport is an optional extra for all of our support staff and is paid at a TA3 rate of £14.13 an hour.
This role is casual. The majority of the transport team work an extra 17 hours a week on top of the 32.5 hours for the TA2B contract. If you have any further questions regarding this aspect, please email the Transport Manager, Jordan Calderbank – calderbankj@elmtree.lancs.sch.uk. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. As this is a term time only position, the successful candidate will paid for 45.25 weeks of the year.
This equates to £19,196 - £20,786.
An Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check will be sought for the successful candidate. Please see attached the job description for more information regarding the role! Please note that in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023, an online search will be carried out as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. Please note CVs are not accepted, to apply for this vacancy you need to complete the application form attached.
If you are interested in this role, please email your application form over to Jordan Calderbank, HR & Transport Manager - calderbankj@elmtree.lancs.sch.uk by 12 noon on Friday 28th February 2025.
