We would like to extend a warm welcome from all pupils, staff, governors and trustees of Rhyddings. Rhyddings serves the East Lancashire old mill town of Oswaldtwistle and surrounding area of Hyndburn. It has been at the heart of the community for over 90 years and although a smaller than average high school, but expanding, we cater for pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds. The school enjoys good transport links via the M65 corridor and adjoining networks of M6 and M66.
We continue to work hard to prepare the young people we serve and help them realise and reach their potential, providing them with the very best educational experiences. We are also part of a group of founding schools in Hyndburn to form the LET multi- academy trust, within Hyndburn, with a neighbouring high school and two primary schools.
Rhyddings is seeking to appoint a highly motived and dedicated Site Manager to support our school.
The Site Manager will undertake a full and pro-active role in the development of the school. As a member of the School Management Team, they will contribute ideas and strategies and provide an active input in relation to all matters concerning the premises/site.
You will organise and manage the premises, taking the lead on all site-related matters, taking a lead role on Health & Safety. Ensuring security of the site and related resources, ensuring risk assessments are undertaken, training is provided to staff, and statutory regulations are complied with.
The school was redeveloped in 2021 with many new and specialised facilities. The existing buildings have also been significantly refurbished through dedicated Condition Improvement Funding bids. These include new fire safety doors throughout, boiler replacement, solar installation and a full site heating distribution system.
We have 3 exterior blocks of specialist provision in Performing Arts, Science, Technology and Humanities. External spaces are large hard surfaces and playing fields are adjacent to school. Off-site we have the pavilion building at The Heys playing fields just minutes away by car.
The Site Manager has an integral office and workshop, which is well equipped in order to undertake maintenance and repair work on-site. The successful candidate will have a range of basic skills in carpentry, plumbing and handy person repairs as well has managing site security, H&S, and external contractors such as grounds maintenance work.
