Summary
Please note that there is both a Temporary post & a Permanent post available. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated teaching assistant who has a passion for working with children and wants to ensure they learn, progress and reach their potential. If appointed you will work in class to support the learning of children under the direction of the class teacher, as well as working with individual and small groups of children out of the classroom. You will be part of a team of teaching assistants and teachers who share a commitment to providing the best possible education to all of the students at St Bartholomew’s.

The job is demanding, but extremely fulfilling as you know you are making a difference to the lives of the children you are working with. We have a team of dedicated and hard-working staff and an effective governing body, who are determined to give our children what they deserve - the very best education in a caring Christian setting. We also have a supportive parent community, and we enjoy good links with the local community and the Parish of St Bartholomew’s.

Most importantly, we are a school with pupils who thoroughly enjoy coming to school and working hard. We are looking for someone who will:

  • Promote positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
  • Have high expectations for pupil learning, behaviour and attainment.
  • Have a creative and practical approach to learning.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the primary curriculum with excellent Numeracy and Literacy skills with experience of working across the school.
  • Have experience of working with a range of Special Educational and behavioural needs.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and to a high standard both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to assist in the assessment, monitoring and recording of pupil progress and developmental needs.
  • Support learning in the classroom.
  • Wants to continually develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Uphold the Christian values of the School.

    Please note that there is both a Temporary post & a Permanent post available. All new employees are required to complete a probationary period before they are fully confirmed in post, however, this does not affect an employees' statutory employment rights. Both positions are part time, term time only to a maximum of 28.75 hours per week with a set minimum of 10 hours per week.

    Please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro rata basis. You are very welcome to come and visit the school and we do encourage this, as we believe this gives you the opportunity to see our friendly staff and lovely children.
