Summary
The Governing Body of Altham St. James’ C of E Primary School is seeking to appoint an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations, to take up a teaching assistant position in the reception class. The successful candidate will be proactive, able to work off their own initiative and model good practice in the classroom. Altham St. James’ Church of England Primary School is a very popular, village school. We see ourselves as a family and are a united team. 

We are proud to be part of a warm, caring, welcoming Christian school, where the children are at the heart of everything we do. Our pupils are excited to learn and behaviour is excellent throughout the school. We welcome applicants who feel they can passionately contribute to the determination and drive of our existing staff. As well as the Teaching Assistant position, there is also the potential for the right candidate to lead some after school sports sessions. Additional breakfast club and lunchtime hours are also available, if desired, by the successful candidate.

Essential Qualifications
  • Grade 4 GCSE, or equivalent, in English and mathematics.
  • NVQ2 qualification or higher.


  • Essential Experience
  • Working in a reception class
  • Delivery of Read Write Inc. or equivalent phonics scheme
  • Setting up continuous provision


  • Desirable Experience
  • Supporting the delivery of White Rose Maths or equivalent scheme
  • Working with children with additional needs
  • Delivery of the NELI Programme or other Speech and Language Programmes / willingness to undertake training
