Summary
The Governors of Larkholme Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated teaching assistant to join our hardworking, caring team at this successful primary school.  

The post will involve working throughout the school in the afternoon with various children with SEND who require additional support.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support the delivery of the national curriculum.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and preparing activities and materials that support early learning.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to monitor the progress of children and provide feedback.
  • Help to create a safe, nurturing environment that stimulates and encourages learning among the children, and model behaviour.
  • Engage with children in both one-to-one and group settings, facilitating educational play and learning activities.
  • Assist with the supervision of children during class, breaks, and lunchtimes.
  • Contribute to the assessment and observation processes to track children’s development.
  • Support children with special educational needs, under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.


    Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Attachment and Trauma Informed Practice (ATIP) as a framework to underpin all the work we undertake with our pupils
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within an early years setting.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with young children.
  • A patient, caring, and creative approach to supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

    PLEASE NOTE:

    The role is initially 15 hours per week (term time only). This will be a variable hours contract with a minimum of 8 hours per week guaranteed. The salary quoted is the full time equivalent the salary paid with be pro-rata.  This is a fixed term position in the first instance August 2025, however there may be the opportunity for the post to be extended beyond that period.

  • Essential Qualifications

    NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a relevant subject

    GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English

    Essential Experience

    Experience of working in a Primary School

    Experience of working with or caring for children with SEND

    Experience of working closely with class teachers/SENCOs
