Summary

St John’s Catholic Primary School is a school with excellent relationships with our pupils, families and the wider community. We have a friendly and dedicated team of teaching and support staff. 

Our Governing Body is looking to appoint a temporary part-time Teaching Assistant who is flexible and adaptable, and able to motivate and inspire individual children with very specific needs. The successful candidate will primarily support individual children and groups in our Reception and/or Y1 class. 

We are looking for a person who is friendly, has a positive attitude, who is hardworking and able to use their own initiative. You will be fully involved in teaching, learning and assessment and supporting the children in our care.

The post is for 2 days per week, Thursdays and Fridays, 11.5 hours per week, term time only.

The successful applicant will: 

Have experience and/or knowledge of supporting children with SEND

Have a genuine desire to work with children

Share the belief that every child can succeed

Have a strong, positive work ethic

Be enthusiastic and hardworking

Have excellent communication skills

Be able to work both as part of a team and on their own initiative

Be flexible and adaptable

Essential Qualifications

NVQ Level 2 or above, or equivalent, childcare qualification 
a minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English at grade C/4 or above

First Aid

Makaton

Essential Experience

Recent employment in a primary school

Desirable Experience

Experience of working within Early Years/KS1 in a school setting

Experience of working with young children with SEND, ASD

Experience of working with children who have speech and language needs

Experience of working with children who have delayed development

Experience of working with children with medical needs

Experience of Makaton
