We are looking for Level 3 teaching assistant apprentices (30 hours per week) to start this September, posts are for 2 years in the first instance and full training will be undertaken in conjunction with Nelson & Colne College. Your college tutor will visit regularly throughout the apprenticeship and you will have a mentor within school.

Westgate has an excellent track record of developing apprentices, many have moved into qualified teaching assistant roles and one is now a qualified teacher!

The posts will include general class based Teaching Assistant responsibilities as well as supporting children with Special Educational Needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties as part of a class team approach. The year groups for the general Teaching Assistant posts have yet to be determined and will reflect the range of applications we receive.

Westgate is a very large mainstream primary school serving the community in Morecambe. The pupils are at the centre of everything we do with a committed, experienced and hard-working staff base meeting the needs of the children we are responsible for. The ideal candidate will be someone who is child-centred, compassionate and resilient.
