Summary
Asmall Primary School are seeking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our lovely school. The role would be to support a child with ASD, currently in Reception. The pupil can find the school environment a challenge at times, and the successful candidate will have good relationship building skills, be skilled in behaviour management and be a kind, caring and dedicated support.

The hours are 30 per week, 8:45am – 3:15pm. Supporting the child over break times and part lunchtimes on our busy playground is an important aspect of the role.

We are looking for a teaching assistant who:

  • Has a relevant NVQ2 qualification or higher
  • Has recent, relevant experience of working with children with ASD
  • Is calm, patient and nurturing, and skilled in managing challenging behaviour
  • Is resilient, committed and flexible and able to ‘think on their feet’
  • Builds excellent relationships with children, staff and parents

  • Essential Qualifications
  • GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language 
  • NVQ level 2 or above qualification - appropriate to the post (or equivalent).  

  • Desirable Qualifications
  • Paediatric First Aid 
  • Positive handling and restraint training 
  • Trauma informed training 

  • Essential Experience
  • Experience of working with SEN children within a classroom environment 
  • Experience of working in a KS1 setting 
  • Experience of working with children with ASD
