Hillside Specialist School and College is looking to recruit an experienced, inspirational leader to be a part of our school’s management team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to join our dedicated team.

Our provision meets the needs of pupils with a diagnosis of autism and EHC Plan from the age of 3 years, up to the age of 19 years.

The ideal candidate would need to be passionate about working with children and young people with autism and want to make a real difference to their lives and education.

The successful candidate will be office based although there may be opportunities to contribute to the teaching of class groups. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to whole-school initiatives and school improvement as part of the Senior Leadership Team and supporting the Headteacher. Presently, the position also has the benefit of membership of the School's Advisory Service health and wellbeing services.

Essential Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status


• Degree

Desirable Qualifications

• Further/advanced qualification in the field of special educational needs and/or autism


• Post-entry curriculum or management training

Essential Experience

• Been a Teacher and/or Assistant Headteacher/li>
  
• recent relevant professional development in management


• recent relevant professional development in teaching, learning and assessment of pupils with learning difficulties and/or autism


• Subject leadership across more than one key stage, whole school responsibility


• contributing to school improvement and improvement planning.

Desirable Experience

• Recent training in the Ofsted self-evaluation procedures


• leadership and management in teaching and learning


• statutory review of statements (IEP’s, PLPs, Care Plans)


• planning and coordinating qualifications and accreditation


• preparation for adulthood, transitions, careers


• policy development and implementation
