Information
Sir Tom Finney Community High school is a successful Generic Secondary Special School (11-19) in Preston. We are seeking to appoint a motivated, skilled and enthusiastic teacher for a maternity cover to join our dedicated and experienced team to provide outstanding learning opportunities supporting our vision of LEARNING AND ACHIEVING TOGETHER.

The successful candidate is required to have knowledge of child development, a good understanding of teaching methods as well as a strong interest in supporting students with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities from across the full continuum of learning and additional needs. Many of our students are working at developmental stages below their age-related expectations and as such we are looking for someone who can teach students in an age appropriate way whilst having the understanding that they are working at earlier stages of development.

The post is pastorally based in Key stage 3 and you will be expected to co-ordinate performing arts to all ages. Drama and performing arts is specifically timetabled at key stage 3 and as an option for key stage 4 and post 16. Furthermore all our teaching staff are required to deliver core subjects of English and Maths and have flexibility to deliver other subjects as required.

You need to be innovative, passionate, and creative to meet the full range of needs of our young people. As a pastoral and subject teacher, you will lead support staff to maximise students learning, adapt the curriculum, provide a structured and supportive learning environment.
