Rhyddings Business & Enterprise School are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, qualified Teacher of Food Technology to join an already successful and ambitious technology department. We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner who is both creative and challenging in their teaching. They will be passionate and committed to ensuring students maximise their potential and achievement. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach across our whole 11-16 age range and ability range. The ability to teach across the technology disciplines or an additional subject would be an advantage but not essential.

The school is in a period of transition, quite literally with a planned capital building programme. Uniquely, whilst this is taking place the school has been temporarily off-site for the academic years 2019-2021, to allow for demolition and construction work. Therefore, we are currently based at Hameldon College, Coal Clough Lane, Burnley for this academic year but return to Oswaldtwistle in September 2021.

The Technology Department has two full time staff led by the Head of Design and Technology who is a Subject Leader in Education (SLE). This post is vacant due to the promotion of the current holder to a leadership role. There is also a Technology Technician to support the work of the department.

We offer a GCSE in Food Technology at KS4 and this is a popular option within our curriculum. At KS3 all pupils have a 60min lesson per week and cover a range of skills in both practical and theory. All the technology rooms are suited together with a specialist food prep room, classroom and resistant materials suite comprising CAD/CAM equipment. The rooms are well appointed in our technology and art block. The ability to teach across the technology disciplines or an additional subject would be an advantage but not essential.
