JOB PURPOSE:
Promote effective learning, appropriate achievement and educational, social and personal progress of all pupils for whom the teacher is designated as being responsible, consistent with the aims of the school and Trust and the individual needs of each individual.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Teaching Duties
- Fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document
- Meet the expectations set out in the Trust’s Teacher Standards
- Plan and teach well-structured lessons to assigned classes, following the school’s plans, curriculum and schemes of work
- Use different teaching methods, including whole class, group work, independent research, demonstrations, experiments and play, to motivate and encourage interaction in the class.
- Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment
- Set expectations for discipline including dealing with inappropriate behaviour according to school policy
- Appropriately deploy teaching assistants who are assigned to work within the class.
- Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a pleasant, stimulating and positive learning environment.
- Work and effectively engage parents to support their children’s learning
- Identify SEND pupils and ensure appropriate support is in place
